Made the mistake of doing my 2 hour ride to Newport Beach on Saturday afternoon. The bike path was a zoo. Walking bike only near the pier; no riding allowed.
Riding on PCH wasn't any better.

WELCOME - The 2006 Arthritis Foundation's 525 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles was incredible and looks like has turned me into a roadie for good.
